Psychotherapy, Counselling, & Professional Support

Clive and Ava

That was us a year or three ago. Still us. Still relevant. But Ava Perraton now works almost exclusively in a different, but related role. And Clive's practice doesn't have a lot of room for new, weekly clients.

Clive is available for one-off professional consultations. And if you are seeking an ongoing arrangement for professional support, and you think he is the person you really need, send an email. We'll arrange to speak.

Similarly, if you think you really need Ava, email initially, and she will follow up.

The email link is at the top of the page.

Consultation

Clive provides ethical and professional consultation to colleagues. He grounds consultation in his work as a moral philosopher, 20+ years of psychotherapy practice, and his contributions to the theory and practice of contemporary person-centred counselling and experiential focusing.

Counselling

Effective telephone counselling grounded in two decades experience working 'over distance', contemporary person-centred practice, experiential focusing, and Clive's own contributions to theory and practice.

Professional Support (Supervision)

A counsellor's best friend is, or should be, their clinical supervisor. Clive provides substantial, non-judgemental clinical and personal support to fellow professionals. Roughly speaking, support that ticks the supervision box needs to involve meeting at least monthly. Otherwise I view it as occasional support.

Experiential Focusing

Experiential Focusing is integral to everything Peraford offers. No visible seams. No clunky technique. Ava and Clive are experienced Focusing Teachers always ready to share this universally applicable practice.

Clive
"Oh, the comfort—the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person—having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away."

Dinah Craik, A Life for a Life (1859).
Born 20 April 1826 at Stoke-on-Trent, died 12 October 1887, Dinah Maria Craik was an English novelist and poet whose native city is shared by the man on the left.
